At the Norwegian Grammys (Spellemannprisen) this Saturday, Shining won the award for “Innovator of the Year” and will get a marketing campaign on Spotify worth 200 000 NOK. The prize is being given out by Spotify, in collaboration with Spellemann. It is awarded to an artist that has embraced the new media in their career, and is using this in a creative and interesting way. The jury comments: «Shining has during 2011 established a strong presence on all social platforms. From Flickr to Facebook, the band communicate and involve their fans with creative competitions. By manufacturing a physical QR code and auction it on eBay, the band even got attention in the traditional media. They even hired their touring crew via their Facebook page.»
